What is the Stanford Journal of International Affairs?

The Stanford Journal of International Affairs publishes undergraduate scholarship on international policy topics annually. The Journal seeks to promote awareness and facilitate discussion about global politics, transnational social and economic issues, international culture, and related topics. SJIA is committed to bringing together a broad range of perspectives to help our readers navigate the complexities of contemporary foreign affairs.

SJIA accepts editor applications every fall. Any Stanford undergraduate is welcome to submit to our journal.

Meet the Team

  • Fiona Clunan

    CO-EDITOR IN CHIEF

    Fiona is a senior from Virginia Beach, VA majoring in Classics and International Relations. She is currently co-Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Journal of International Affairs and was previously SIAS's Chief Programming Officer. Outside of SIAS, she's been involved in the Classics undergraduate journal and SLE and has worked on research at CESTA, the Immigration Policy Lab, and Hoover. In her free time, Fiona loves learning languages, eating spicy food, listening to reggaeton, and visiting ancient ruins.

  • Adrian Feinberg

    CO-EDITOR IN CHIEF

    Adrian is a junior double majoring in International Relations and Film Studies. He is the Co-Editor in Chief of the Stanford Journal of International Affairs for the 2023-2024 school year and has previously worked as an external programming officer for SIAS. When not exploring his academic interests in genocide studies and transitional justice processes, he can be found reading fiction, watching movies with subtitles, and mapping out the best taco trucks in his hometown of Berkeley, CA.

  • Noah Tan

    MANAGING EDITOR

    Noah is a junior from Stevensville, Michigan and is studying International Relations with specializations in international security and world economy. This year, he is serving as an editor of the Stanford Journal of International Affairs. On campus, he is involved in the Stanford Pre-Law Society, SLS Constitutional Law Center, and the Stanford Men's Rowing Team. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, music composition, and skiing.

  • Khushmita Dhabhai

    MANAGING EDITOR

    Khushmita is a rising sophomore at Stanford University. Academically, she is interested in the social sciences. At SIAS, she is an editor with SJIA and DPO with the programming team. Extracurricular-wise, she is passionate about drama and poetry. Fun facts about her: She can rap the periodic table, is a foodie (ask her about the best vegan restaurants in Palo Alto), and loves Modern Family!

  • Sita Antel

    DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH

    Sita is a sophomore studying History from San Diego, California. She could not be more excited to be one of the editors for the Stanford Journal of International Affairs. this year she hopes to achieve polyglot status by continuing her studies in Russian, French, and Spanish. Sita is also involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, Stanford Women in History, and the club water polo team alongside being an absolute menace at trivia.

  • Lorraine Cioffi

    DIRECTOR OF DESIGN

    Lorraine is a sophomore from Atherton, CA double majoring in psychology and economics/public policy. She is SIAS’s and SIJIA’s first Director of Design, in which she spearheads the design and publication of the journal that features exceptional undergraduate work. Outside of SIAS, Lorraine is Stanford Women in Law’s Community Development Chair, has researched in the Emotion and Culture Lab on campus, and notably claims to have designed her room as one of the “most aesthetic.” Because she’s from 10 minutes away, she’s also your gal for any recommendations for all things off campus!

  • Gabi Reitz

    EDITOR

    Gabriela is a junior from Grand Junction, Colorado, studying International Relations. She is serving as an editor for the Stanford Journal on International Affairs, and has previously worked as a programming fellow and Model United Nations team-member. In her free time, Gabriela enjoys eating fruit, going on 6 am hikes before class, listening to Taylor Swift, and doing things in nature with the Outdoor House community.   • Zoya Fasihuddin

    EDITOR

    Zoya is a sophomore from Pakistan, planning to study a combination of Economics, International Relations and Human Rights. She is looking forward to being one of the Deputy Editors for SJIA, and is passionate about using writing to raise awareness on legal, historical, and financial paradigms in third world countries. On campus, she has conducted research on female micro-finance and political participation in South Asia for the King Center on Global Development, and has also analyzed global education policies for the GSE.   • Katherine Xu

    EDITOR

    Katherine is a frosh from Ohio studying Symbolic Systems and interested in computer science, international relations and bioengineering. She is so excited to be a fellow on the SJIA! On campus, she is involved in Stanford Women in Computer Science and the iGem team! In her free time, Katherine enjoys meticulously curating Spotify playlists, reading niche East Asian literature, and trying to overcome her Tiktok addiction.

  • Mirabai Herz

    EDITOR

    Originally from Denver, Colorado, Mirabai is a freshman studying economics and psychology. Alongside her role as an editor for SJIA, Mirabai rides for Stanford’s equestrian team, is an editor for the Stanford Economic Review, and serves as co-captain of her ethics bowl team. She loves to read, and in her free time she can be found hiking, skiing, or volunteering. Mirabai is excited to join the SIAS team, and is looking forward to an amazing year!

  • Tianren Li

    EDITOR

    Tianren Li is a freshman originally from Shenzhen China and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado! She is interested in majoring in International Relations and is still exploring other minors such as psychology. As an editor of the SJIA Journal this year, she is very interested in reading about global issues, especially related to international history and culture. Outside of school, Tianren really likes live concerts and is a fan of a vast variety of music. She also likes to keep up with interesting events in the Fashion Industry and likes learning about different types of art! Tianren is still exploring the endless possibilities and resources at Stanford and cannot wait to make special memories with all the SIAS members this year!

  • Alexandra Beyret

    Alexandra is a freshman from Gilroy, CA interested in international relations, data science, economics, and human rights. She is especially passionate in anything Middle Eastern and Eastern European related, and is excited to be a part of the SIAS Board this year as a SJIA Fellow. Outside of SIAS, Alexandra loves reading, going on walks, and exploring what Stanford & Palo Alto have to offer!

  • Elena Shropshire

    EDITOR

    A Board Fellow for Stanford's Journal of International Affairs and member of the Model United Nations travel team, Elena is a freshman from the Northern Virginia/DC area interested in studying International Relations and East Asian Studies (China sub-plan). She has a wide variety of research interests, ranging from the risks of Artificial Intelligence on US defense technology to the effects of Long COVID on people with neurodegenerative diseases. In her free time, she likes cooking (sans recipe) vegan cheesecakes and is a die-hard fan for YA fantasy fiction books.
